Course Grouping organizes order items by course (e.g., Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert) on kitchen tickets. It helps kitchen staff clearly see pacing and preparation order. This feature only affects kitchen tickets — it does not change how orders are processed or printed on receipts.
What this feature does
When enabled, Course Grouping:
Groups order items by course on kitchen tickets (e.g. Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert)
Displays course names as clear headers with visual separation (e.g.,
--- Appetizer ---)Sorts items based on your configured course order
Places items without a course under No Course (at the bottom)
Optionally shows [HOLD] / [FIRE] at the course level
Appends partner order IDs (e.g., Grab or Foodpanda) next to the channel name on tickets
This makes tickets easier to read and helps the kitchen manage pacing more efficiently.
What this feature does not do
❌ Does not change how orders are processed or sent to the kitchen
❌ Does not work unless Coursing is enabled in outlet settings
❌ Does not affect customer receipt printing (kitchen tickets only)
How to use it?
Where to find the settings
Go to Settings > Outlet Settings > Pacing & Coursing
‼️ Important note: Make sure Coursing is already enabled and default courses are configured before using this feature
Settings 1:
Show courses on tickets - main toggle to enable course grouping on kitchen tickets
When toggle is OFF:
Tickets print as a flat list of items and no course headers appear
When toggle is ON:
Items are grouped under course headers like "Appetizer"
Settings 2:
Show held courses on tickets - this option appears only when Show courses on tickets is ON
When toggle is OFF:
Hold and Fire appears on individual items
When toggle is ON:
Hold and Fire appears at course level (e.g. Hold: Appetizer
‼️ Important note: Entire course must be held/fire to show status; mixed courses show no status
Important considerations
⚠️ Held Items Behavior
If "Show held courses on tickets" is ON, held items will print on tickets (overrides the "Include held items" setting)
📋 Course Assignment
Items without assigned courses appear under "No Course" section at the bottom
🖨️ Printer Groups
Each printer group receives tickets with items sorted according to that group's sort mode (grouped/sequential)
💡 Best Practice
Only enable "Show held courses on tickets" if kitchen staff understand course-level hold/fire workflow
