Coursing

Coursing helps restaurants group order items into logical meal stages—such as Starters, Mains, and Desserts—so staff can better manage pacing and decide when each course is sent to the kitchen. It’s designed for venues where meal flow matters, especially full-service or fine-dining operations. Coursing does not currently change how kitchen tickets print; items still print based on printer groups.

How to use?

  1. To Settings → Pacing in the Merchant App.

  2. Toggle Coursing on

  3. Add your default courses (e.g., Starters, Mains, Desserts)

4. Optionally allow no-course items if you want flexibility for simple or fast-paced orders

5. Toggle ON Show courses on tickets if you like course ticket to be printed

How to use during order taking?

When adding items on the POS, staff will be asked to assign each item to a course. Items are then shown in grouped sections (e.g., Starters, Mains, Desserts) in the order view. Staff can create new courses on the spot if needed (e.g., Kids Menu or Special Set).

How to manage courses?

Use Move items to another course to reorganize before sending. Staff can Hold or Fire an entire course to control when that group is sent to the kitchen. Each course appears as a collapsible section, making it clear what’s already sent and what’s still pending.

Additional Considerations

  • Courses are only visible to staff and don’t appear on customer receipts or menus.

  • Hold and Fire actions apply to the entire course; all items in that course follow the same send timing.

  • You can allow "no-course" items for quick service environments that don't follow structured meal pacing.

‼️ Important note: Future versions will include kitchen ticket grouping by course and timing controls for automatic firing.
