EVP Terminal — Collecting Tips at the POS

Enable a tip prompt on the POS so staff can collect a tip before sending a payment to the EVP terminal — bundled as a single charge.

When the tip prompt is enabled, staff will see an optional tip entry screen before the payment is sent to the EVP terminal. The tip is bundled into a single charge — the customer taps or inserts their card once for the full amount. Papaya records the order total and tip separately for reporting.

Enabling the tip prompt

  1. Go to Settings → Offline Payments

  2. Find the Prompt for tip toggle

  3. Turn it on and save

‼️ This setting also applies to non-terminal offline payment methods (e.g. QR code, bank transfer). EVP terminal uses the same toggle.

How it works at the POS

  1. Staff opens an order and taps Add Payment → EVP

  2. The Add tip (optional) screen appears

  3. Staff enters a tip amount — or taps Skip to proceed without a tip

  4. After confirming, the EVP terminal displays the full amount (order total + tip)

  5. Customer completes the payment on the terminal

  6. Once payment is confirmed, the order is marked as paid

Action

Result

Staff enters a tip

Terminal shows order total + tip as one charge

Staff taps Skip

Terminal shows order total only

How amounts appear in Papaya

The order total and tip are tracked separately:

  • Paid — reflects the order total (food, fees, etc.)

  • Tip — tracked separately under the order's tip total

  • The EVP terminal and any EVP-side reports show a single combined total — the tip is not broken out on EVP's side
