The EDC terminal (powered by GHL) is fully integrated with Papaya POS. It accepts Visa/Mastercard, PromptPay QR, and digital wallets (Alipay, Alipay+, TrueMoney, ShopeePay, LazadaPay, LINE Pay, and more) — with the payment amount sent automatically from the POS, no manual entry needed.
How payment processing works
Staff completes the order on the POS and taps Pay
The payment amount is sent automatically to the EDC terminal
Customer taps/inserts their card, scans QR, or selects their wallet
Terminal confirms the payment and Papaya records it automatically
No need to type the amount on the terminal — it’s synced from the POS.
Supported payment methods
Category | Methods |
Cards | Visa, Mastercard (local + international) |
QR payment | PromptPay, Thai QR Code |
Digital wallets | Alipay, Alipay+, TrueMoney, ShopeePay, LazadaPay, LINE Pay, Atome, Sabuy Money |
Connection modes: WiFi vs USB
The terminal connects to the POS via either WiFi or USB.
Mode | Setup | Best for |
WiFi | Terminal and POS on the same network. Enter the terminal’s IP address in settings. | Wireless setups, terminal not physically near POS |
USB | Terminal connected directly via USB cable. No IP address needed. | Reliable connection, single counter setup |
To change the connection mode, go to Settings → Payment Terminals, edit the terminal, and select USB or WiFi. For WiFi, you’ll also need to enter the terminal’s IP address.
‼️ Switching to USB mode may require backend configuration by the GHL team. Contact support before switching.
Testing the connection
In Settings → Payment Terminals, use the Test Connection button to verify the terminal is reachable. The test result shows the response code, message, and timestamp.
Refunds
Refunds (voids) can be processed through the terminal for card and wallet payments. The refund is sent from Papaya to the terminal using the original transaction reference. Note: PromptPay/Thai QR Code payments cannot be voided through the terminal.
