Tags help your customers find what they're looking for and give your menu a professional, informative feel. You can attach dietary and marketing tags to any menu item. Tags are configured in Settings → Base Menu → Tags.

The 7 default tags cannot be deleted. You can create additional custom tags of either type.

Creating a tag

Go to Settings → Base Menu → Tags and click Add tag. Fill in:

  • Name — the tag label (e.g. "Spicy")

  • Type — Dietary or Marketing

  • Abbreviation — a short code shown on compact views (e.g. "SP")

  • Filterable — toggle on if you want customers to filter the menu by this tag

Attaching tags to menu items

Edit any menu item in Base Menu → Menu Items and select the tags you want to attach. You can also bulk update tags across multiple items — go to the menu items list, click Add new, and choose "Update dietary tags" or "Update marketing tags".

How tags appear

Tags are displayed on the customer ordering app as small badges next to item names. When Filterable is enabled, customers can tap the tag to filter the entire menu to only items with that tag — useful for guests with dietary restrictions.

On the merchant POS, tags appear as labels on the item cards.
