A central kitchen is not just somewhere stock sits — it counts, wastes and buys like anywhere else. Switching the Inventory section to a location lets you run its day to day without leaving Papaya.
Switching to a location
Use the switcher at the top of the Inventory menu and pick the location you want to work in. Everything in Inventory then applies to that location until you switch back.
‼️ Switching only changes the Inventory section. Your orders, menu and POS stay with the outlet you are logged into.
What you can do at a location
Stock and movements — current stock, the full movement history, and low-stock alerts
Counts — count sheets and count areas, exactly as at an outlet
Wastage — record waste with a reason, and see it in wastage reporting
Purchasing — the whole purchase request → purchase order → goods receipt flow, so a central kitchen can order from suppliers and receive deliveries directly
Purchase orders and goods receipts raised at a location use that location's name and address as the bill-to.
One thing worth knowing about approvals
A purchase request raised while you are working at a location follows the approval settings of the outlet you are logged into. Locations do not carry their own inventory settings, so the outlet raising the request decides whether it needs approval.
Pages that stay with outlets
Production, recipes, prep recipes, option ingredients and insights are outlet-only for now. While you are working at a location their menu items are hidden, and opening one directly shows a short notice with a button to switch back to your outlet.
Low stock alerts follow the location
Par levels and reorder points belong to the place that holds the stock, so a central kitchen has its own. Set them while working at the location and its low-stock list is about that kitchen, not your outlets.
Common questions
Do I have to switch to see a location's stock? Yes. The inventory pages always show one place at a time — the switcher is what tells them which.
Does switching affect my orders or POS? No. It only changes the Inventory section. Orders, menu and POS stay with the outlet you are logged into.
Does my team need a permission to switch? No. Anyone who can open Inventory can switch. Creating and editing the locations themselves needs Manage inventory locations.
Why can a location buy but not produce? Production and recipes are tied to a menu, and locations have none. Batch production stays at outlets for now — move its output with a transfer.
