The POS has several quick actions for managing order items efficiently during service. This guide covers navigating menus, searching for items, and the swipe gestures for repeating, editing, and cancelling items.

Navigating menus & categories

The top navigation bar shows the current Menu / Category. Tap it to switch between menus and categories using the menu/category switcher.

Search & quick-add

Tap the search icon (or press Ctrl+K / ⌘K) to open the search overlay. Type to find any menu item instantly and add it to the order without navigating through categories.

The + button opens the Open Item dialog for adding custom one-time items (see Open Items).

Sent vs Unsent items

The order panel is split into two sections:

  • Unsent — items added by staff that haven’t been sent to the kitchen yet. These can be freely edited or removed.

  • Sent — items already sent to the kitchen. These can be repeated or cancelled, but not edited.

Swipe gestures

Swipe an order item left or right to reveal quick action buttons:

Action

Available on

What it does

Repeat (green)

Sent, Unsent, Held

Adds the same item again with identical options — no popup

Cancel (red)

Sent, Held

Cancels the item (with optional reason)

Remove (red)

Unsent (staff items only)

Removes the item from the basket before it’s sent

Repeat vs Make Another

These are two different ways to reorder an item:

Action

How to trigger

Behaviour

Repeat

Swipe right → green button

Instantly adds the same item with the same options. No popup, no changes.

Make Another

Tap on the item

Opens the full item popup so you can change options/modifiers before adding. Use this when the customer wants the same dish but with different customisation.

‼️ Swipe gestures and quick actions are only available when the order is open or reopened, and require the Full POS permission.

Hold & Fire

If your outlet uses coursing or paced ordering, held items appear in a separate tab with their own swipe gestures (Repeat + Cancel). For full details, see the Coursing collection.
