What this dashboard is for
The Today dashboard is your live operations view. It answers one question all day long: "Are we on pace, ahead, or behind today — and which parts of the business are driving that?"
Open it any time during service. Numbers refresh on every load.
The core concept: "same-weekday, 4-week baseline"
Almost every chart compares today against a baseline: the same weekday over the previous 4 weeks. If today is a Tuesday, the baseline is the last 4 Tuesdays. Every weekday has its own rhythm, so this compares like for like.
To keep in-progress hours fair, the baseline is truncated to "by-now": at 2:30pm, today is compared to where the last 4 Tuesdays stood at 2:30pm — not their full-day totals.
The colour code
Complete (solid green line, or green bars) — closed and paid orders. Booked revenue.
Open (paler green point) — tabs still running. Where today would land if every open tab closed right now.
Projection ("- - proj", green dotted) — where today is heading if the current pace continues.
4w avg (grey dashed) and 4w range (grey band) — the baseline's average path and its lowest-to-highest spread across the 4 weeks.
How projection is calculated: today's pace so far (complete + open) is compared to where the baseline average stood at this hour; that ratio is applied to the baseline's remaining path. If the baseline is at 40% of its day and today runs 110% of that pace, the projection extends today by 110% of the baseline's shape. Because it scales the average, a very strong day can project above the 4w range band — that's expected. Projection appears only after the baseline has accumulated about 3% of its typical day, so early-morning numbers don't swing wildly.
The charts, top to bottom
1. Revenue | Today vs same weekday
Cumulative revenue building hour by hour ("Time of Day" is the hour each order was opened, Bangkok time; the 15:00 point covers up to 15:59, and late-night hours past midnight stay at the end of the axis).
Green solid line = today's completed revenue, cumulative.
Pale green point at the current hour = today including open tabs.
Green dotted line = the projection through end of day.
Grey band + grey dashed line = the 4-week range and average.
Reading it: green above the grey dashed = ahead of a typical same weekday. Hugging the bottom of the grey band = at the soft end of your range.
2. Orders | Today vs same weekday
The same chart for order count. Revenue up while orders are down means bigger tickets, not more customers — worth knowing which one is driving the day.
3. Revenue | Today vs past 7 days & 4. Orders | Today vs past 7 days
One bar per day for the last week, with each bar's total on top. Today's bar stacks three segments: complete + open + proj (the projected remainder) — so today's total is the projected end-of-day figure. The bar 7 days back is the same weekday last week, the most direct comparison.
5. Revenue | by Channel Type
Revenue per channel so far today (green bars, value on top) vs the typical amount by this time of day (grey dot = the average of the last 4 same weekdays, measured up to the current time). A bar above its dot is ahead of normal. Delivery partners are shown by name; other channels grouped by type. Revenue here = charged totals, incl. service charge & tax, after discounts.
6. Revenue | by Menu
The same bars-vs-dot view per menu. Revenue here = item subtotals (before service charge, tax and order discounts), since SC and tax belong to the whole bill, not one menu. Long names are shortened. This basis difference is why menu bars don't sum to the channel chart.
7. Revenue | by Category
Per menu category, same idea and same item-subtotal basis — the quick way to spot a category running hot or cold vs its usual pace.
8. Quantity | Best Sellers
Today's 25 top-selling items by quantity (green bars, count on top) vs the quantity each would typically have sold by this time (grey dot). A bar above its dot is selling faster than usual — useful for prep and 86-ing decisions.
How "today" is defined
Today is the outlet's reporting day (business day), not the calendar date — late-night orders after midnight belong to the evening's business day. Only completed orders count as revenue; open tabs appear separately; cancelled orders don't count at all. All times are Asia/Bangkok.
